Travelling Responsibly - Looking After Scotland, One Journey at a Time
Scotland's spectacular landscapes are the reason so many visitors choose to travel here. From ancient forests and dramatic glens to peaceful lochs and rugged coastlines, these places make every journey memorable.
As the owner of John Mowbray Executive Travel, I spend much of my working life exploring Scotland's roads with guests from around the world. I believe that with that privilege comes a responsibility to help protect the environment and support the communities that make Scotland such a special destination.
While road travel inevitably has an environmental impact, I am committed to reducing that impact wherever possible and making a positive contribution each year.
πΏ Supporting Trees for Life
Each year I calculate the carbon footprint generated by my business and make a voluntary donation to Trees for Life, supporting the restoration of Scotland's native Caledonian Forest.
Their work helps restore ancient woodland, create habitats for wildlife and preserve some of Scotland's most iconic landscapes for future generations.
It is my way of giving something back to the country that provides my livelihood and inspires so many of the journeys I share with my guests.
π§ Reducing Single-Use Plastics
Every guest is offered complimentary drinking water during their journey.
Rather than using plastic bottles, I have switched to recyclable canned water wherever possible, helping to reduce single-use plastic waste while providing a refreshing drink throughout your tour or transfer.
π Thoughtful Journey Planning
Careful route planning not only provides a smoother journey but also helps minimise unnecessary mileage and fuel consumption.
Whenever practical, journeys are planned efficiently to reduce empty running while maintaining the flexibility and personalised service my clients expect.
π΄ Supporting Local Scotland
Whenever guests ask for recommendations, I enjoy directing them towards independent Scottish businesses, including:
Family-run hotels
Local cafΓ©s and restaurants
Independent whisky distilleries
Visitor attractions
Local shops and artisans
Supporting local businesses helps ensure tourism continues to benefit the communities that make Scotland unique.
πΈ Respecting Scotland's Landscapes
Whether we're visiting Glencoe, St Andrews, the Highlands or the East Neuk of Fife, I encourage responsible tourism by respecting wildlife, protecting historic sites and leaving every place exactly as we found it.
The best way to enjoy Scotland is to help preserve it for those who visit after us.
π± Always Improving
Environmental responsibility is an ongoing journey rather than a destination.
Each year I review my business practices and look for practical ways to reduce my environmental impact while continuing to provide the high standard of private transport and touring that my guests expect.
Small changes, consistently made, can make a meaningful difference over time.
A Personal Commitment
John Mowbray Executive Travel is an independent Scottish business built on personal service, local knowledge and a genuine passion for Scotland.
My commitment is simple:
Protect the landscapes I travel through.
Support Scottish conservation.
Reduce waste wherever practical.
Promote responsible tourism.
Continue improving every year.
Because Scotland isn't just where I workβit's home.
